Richmond Hood Boutique Boasts Urban Action Sport Fashion

(Staten Island, NY - September 2007) There are very few things that can combine intelligence, intrigue and intensity, as well as NYC inspired urban action sports. As more and more people partake in the thrills associated with urban action sports (including youth, Rock and Hip-Hop celebrities), brands are increasingly creating products and services to meet their expanding wants and needs. Now, a growing population of Staten Islanders interested in the lifestyle, music and culture of this scene, can count on the Richmond Hood Company (RHC) as their one stop shop destination.

With the support of friends, celebrities, contests and giveaways the Richmond Hood Company will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 12pm on 386 Van Duzer Street, Staten Island, NY. Richmond Hood Company is welcoming the community to come and celebrate with them. Conceptualized, owned and operated by three creative and successful Islanders, Tariq Zaid, Mike Alvarez & Reggie Noble (aka Redman), the RHC’s primary product base speaks to a fascination with exclusive sneakers and hooded sweatshirts. The goods and accessories found in this beautifully constructed and curated shop are, what the owners would call, “street certified and perfect for the fashion savvy New York skater or biker.”

“It’s akin to every exciting cultural phenomenon that’s had an influence on fashion. Richmond Hood Co. embodies what’s hot about Hip-Hop, the inner city BMX, and Skateboard scenes, and we’re simply offering a variety of popular and classic brands that support the extraordinary fashion that come from this fusion,” explains manager Tariq Zaid.

“The concept of the shop came about over several conversations between Acting and Hip-Hop superstar Reggie Noble, Mike Alvarez and myself,” Tariq continues. RHC caters to the consumer looking beyond the national chain stores for those hard to find and extremely stylized brands.

To meet that demand RHC has successfully secured agreements to carry very limited edition lines from major footwear and apparel giants including Nike, Vans and DC Shoes; classic brands Shut, 5 Boro, and Zoo York; and popular independent brands such as Fillmore, Spitfire, Independent, Venture, Thunder, Animal, Bulldog.

Located in the Downtown SI area of Stapleton, across the street from the award winning restaurant “Vida,” the Richmond Hood Co. showcases new age urban action sports fashion within a space polished with old age charm. Restored original wood floors, brick walls and tin ceilings create a boutique celebration of the flavored sneaker the hoody as the foundation of the NYC street uniform.

Also, the Richmond Hood Company is organizing and supporting several events and workshops within the next year that will teach explore the rich history of urban action sports and its community of youth and celebrity enthusiasts.
